How To Create A Winning Presentation for Your Business (Part 1)
At Commerce Connections, members can share details about their business in a 10-minute presentation. Typically, you’ll be able to do this about 2-3 times a year, so creating a winning presentation is worth the effort to make it informative.
In addition to your 30-second commercial at weekly meetings, member presentations are a great way to showcase what your business offers. Prior to creating your presentation, pay attention to what other members do in their presentations to help you with ideas that work well.
How To Create a Presentation
1. Depending on your skill level with public speaking and the nature of your business, you have several options. Most people choose PowerPoint, and sometimes Canva or Prezi, to create a presentation. Choose one you’re comfortable with and pick a template to get started.
2. Some businesses may have samples or products they can bring for members to see in person. Others may have to rely on photos or even videos of the type of work they do. Consider which makes the most sense for your business and use quality items or photos to share.
3. Opening slide: Your business name, logo, professional headshot, and contact information are all good options. If you want to use humor in your presentation, try a fun meme. For a thought-provoking start, try a quote that speaks to the “why” of your business. Your opening slide may sit on the screen for several minutes before you get started, so consider what you would like people to look at while waiting for you to begin.
BONUS TIP: PRACTICE AND TIME YOURSELF on your presentation multiple times. It’s important to be considerate of the time you’ve been given and to leave a minute or two for questions. Sometimes, clarifying details can be covered during this question-and-answer time.
