Five Things to Do in December to Succeed in 2022

Five Things to Do in December to Succeed in 2022

It’s almost the end of 2021 and the beginning of a new business year! Are you ready?

If you’re not sure, or could use a boost to get you growing, here are five things to do before the end of the year to make your business successful in 2022. (Hint: these tips can work all year long!)

1.      Join a networking group. Have you been thinking about investing in your business by putting more focus on networking? Now is the time to get plugged into a networking group like Commerce Connections. We meet weekly and provide opportunities to get referrals, education, and community service checked off your list. Our members LOVE to help other members. Come check us out this week, don’t wait. (See meeting details below or on our website.)

2.      Thank your customers. If you don’t send holiday cards, think of a way to thank your customers for their business this year. This could mean calling your customers and thanking them for their business, sending a small gift, or just touching base via email. We suggest you make a customer list and offer a personal thank you instead of a blanket thank you. Handwritten thank-you notes are a great way to connect!

3.      Make a customer list if you don’t have one. Do you have business cards lying around everywhere? Build a customer list in a CSV file and start using that list to communicate more often with your clients in 2022. You may even want to invest in a small business CRM (Customer Relationship Marketing) solution. A few we recommend are Zoho Bigin, FreshSales Suite, or Hubspot CRM (free!).

4.      Schedule 3 one-on-one networking meetings. Want to get excited about next year? Go out for coffee with a business leader or owner in a complementary business. You can discuss strategies, marketing ideas, and how to cross-sell services. We recommend you do this with three people before the end of the year. Need some introductions? Attend Commerce Connections this week as our guest.

5.      Set goals for the first quarter. If you haven’t already set sales targets or business goals for the first quarter, now is the time to do so. Think about areas you want to focus, expand, or streamline. Then, schedule some time each week (1 hour is great) to work on these goals. Keep this appointment with yourself. You and your business deserve it!

Want more fresh business ideas? Come network with other local business leaders every Wednesday from 7:30 – 9:30 am. We meet at The Scrambled Egg, located at 15282 Fishhawk Blvd, Lithia, Florida. We are a one-seat per industry group, so check our website to see if there’s a seat open and waiting for you to join us. Or at least visit and find out if we’re a good fit for you. We look forward to seeing you at our next meetup!
